Weekly Testing
At least one red break glass Manual Call Point (MCP) or smoke/heat detector is to be operated to test the ability of the controlling equipment (fire alarm panel) to receive a signal, sound the alarm and operate any other devices fitted to the system. Carry out the weekly test as follows:
On arranged visits to your property our engineers will carry out the following procedure.
- Examination of system log book to ensure that any faults recorded have received appropriate attention.
- Contact of site responsible person and sign in, in the required book
- If the system is on watch, take system off watch
- Notify required persons / departments that fire alarm and Emergency lighting system is being tested and to ignore any fire signals or lights that come on. If the system is linked to a fire alarm network then notify site.
- Monitoring persons which block is being tested.
- Carry out required tests, by energising the Emergency lights and activating the fire alarm.
- Notify required persons / departments that the systems tests have been completed. If system is linked to a fire alarm network, notify site monitoring
- Notify persons that this block / building has been tested and is now finished
- Contact site responsible person and report tests finished and get the docket signed.
- Sign out of required book
